Appreciate Sagamore Hill's Architecture

Sagamore Hill is unlike the other Gold Coast mansions on Long Island's North Shore. Come take a walk around the home of Theodore Roosevelt and imagine what it would have been like to come for a visit with the Roosevelts.

Attend an Outdoor Program

Sagamore Hill offers outdoor programs on weekends, weather permitting. Join a Ranger for a walk around the grounds or a chat on the porch. On days when we aren't offering programs - or if you ever have a question - find a Ranger! We're here to help you enjoy your time at the Roosevelts' home.

Bring Your BARK Ranger for a Walk

Your dog is welcome to visit Sagamore Hill with you, as long as you help them be good BARK Rangers by following four simple rules: 1) Bag your pet's waste. 2) Always keep your pet on a leash. 3) Respect Sagamore Hill's wildlife. 4) Know where you can go.

The Farm Shed and Chicken Coop are our two outdoor exhibits, housed in original farm buildings from the Roosevelts' Sagamore Hill farm.

Explore the Historic Village of Oyster Bay, New York

A visit to Sagamore Hill is not complete without a visit to nearby historical and natural attractions, including the historic Village of Oyster Bay, New York. Oyster Bay was a significant location for the Roosevelts during their time at Sagamore Hill. Today, the picturesque village features shops, restaurants, historic sites, parks, and a waterfront.

Go Birdwatching at Sagamore Hill

Sagamore Hill contains a range of vegetation types and habitats that are utilized by a variety of bird species. Our natural lands consist of a mature forest, a salt marsh, and beach habitats. Notable species found here include the Winter Wren, Great Crested Flycatcher, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, and Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Come be like Theodore Roosevelt and admire the birds of Sagamore Hill.

Visit Eel Creek and Cold Spring Harbor

Sagamore Hill’s nature trail leads to scenic water views of Eel creek, a tidal salt marsh creek, and a beach on Cold Spring Harbor.

Visit the Roosevelt Gravesite at Youngs Memorial Cemetery

Youngs Memorial Cemetery is a small cemetery in the village of Oyster Bay, New York. Theodore Roosevelt, the twenty-sixth President of the United States, his wife Edith Roosevelt, and other Roosevelt family members are buried at Youngs Cemetery. It is located approximately one and a half miles south of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site.
